Having established themselves as one of the most exciting live bands on the Scottish music scene in 2016 (Nominated for Best Live Act at SAMA Awards 2016 / headline show at T in the Park’s TBreak stage) MIRACLE GLASS COMPANY topped it off with the release of their Owen Morris-produced debut album ‘MGC 1’on VoxBox Records in October. Fusing psychedelic rock’n’roll with pop sensibilities, blistering musicianship and three unique voices, The List said the album ‘conjures up memories of the Lennon/McCartney partnership at the peak of their powers’ and Scottish music guru Jim Gellatly named it as his album of the year, describing it as ‘timeless, a future classic’.

WILLIAM DOUGLAS (vocals / bass), ANDY DUNCAN (vocals / drums) and AUSTEN GEORGE (vocals / guitar) came together in early 2014 with two aims: (1) create a sound that would both capture the power, energy and melody of the rock’n’roll music they loved, and appeal to a modern audience; and (2) push the boundaries of what a three-piece band can do, with each member singing lead vocals, harmonising, and playing their instrument to the highest level whilst delivering high energy performances and connecting with audiences through their passion and commitment. With both their live show and debut album recognised as being at the pinnacle of new music across their native Scotland in 2016 the band are ready to kick on and build on their already growing UK fanbase in 2017.

“Encompassing the heritage and authenticity of the likes of Metallica and Slipknot with the savvy of Bullet For My Valentine, Beneath The Embers have it nailed” – Chris Pearson, BFBS UK and Radio Caroline.

Rising from the North Essex metal scene are a small band of brothers going by the name of ‘Beneath The Embers’. A Colchester based four piece creating a musical tone sat firmly in between Thrash and Metalcore.

Beneath The Embers fully established themselves in 2016 when singer/songwriter Lewy Roland met lead guitarist Clint Bredin in a random chain of events on musical social media. Fuelled by a mutual interest in the heavier elements of Metal music and a desire to write, Lewy was invited to hook up with the remainder of the band where the group immediately started to write original material. It wasn’t long before an independent record deal was secured with Oakfield Records and studio recording on the debut EP began. “It was pretty clear right away that the band just clicked and we were onto something” says Lewy. “Me and Clint found writing together easy and the time was just right for all of us to now pursue our common goal”.

The eclectic influences from each member has created a collaboration where Clint’s ferocious riffs, with a nod to the old school are framed perfectly by the raw power and speed of the band’s exceptionally tight rhythm section. With Charlie on bass and Spence driving the band’s pacey groove on drums, the sound is showcased excellently by frontman Lewy’s vocal ability in delivering brutal verses and catchy choruses. The band’s breakdowns contrast the faster sections flawlessly where you can’t help but tap or bang your head along to any of it. When asked about the band’s sound Spence stated “We write material we enjoy playing; the music will then be what it is and hopefully people like it as much as we do”.

Now Beneath the Embers are fully immersed in the recording process for the debut EP they have their sights set firmly on cementing a fan base throughout East Anglia during 2017. “Recording is one thing but delivering a confident and credible performance with music people want to hear is something else” says Clint. “2017 will be all about perfecting our art and getting out there”.

“What it really comes down to for us is four friends having fun writing original music that we really believe in” states Charlie, “Two of us are still full time soldiers and two are dads; time is precious and can’t be wasted so we are now ready to share our material with a wider audience”.

“2017 will be the springboard to huge things for this gold standard band from Colchester” – Chris Pearson, BFBS UK and Radio Caroline.

In March 2003 Brett (Bass/Vocals) and Dean (Guitars) got together for a series of jam sessions. It wasn’t the first time the two had played together having already attempted several musical combinations amongst their mutual friends. This time however the stripped down combination clicked and The Medea Project was born, the name coming from their mutual interest in mythology, and the darker side of the human condition.

The newly formed partnership thrashed out a couple songs and then started the search for additional members to complete the line-up. Matt (Drums) and Greg (Guitars) where recruited into the fold completing the first full line-up.

Their sound was dark and progressive and by the July they were ready to set foot on stage. During the next several months, they toured, cut a demo and managed to secure a small cult following. However due to musical differences, Greg and Matt decided to leave the band and The Medea Project was left with the two original members. The search for replacements lasted around 18 months but to no avail but Dean and Brett continued to write.

Dean then migrated to Ireland but the two maintained contact and The Medea Project even managed to release a single for a charity album. On Dean’s return, The Medea Project went through various member changes and released yet another single for a charity album. However, things slowed down considerably and it would be another 3 years before The Medea Project would perform live again.

The Medea Project then went onto hiatus and Brett immigrated to England in 2011. However, the band did not die a complete death. It was pulled from the ashes when Brett (who was now playing guitar and doing vocals) was joined by Pauline (drums) and started reworking some of the original songs as well as writing new material. Excited by what was spawning, they went on the inevitable hunt for a bassist and Bradley (Bob) was conscripted to complete the current 3 piece line-up.

Although not conforming to a particular style, the sound is still dark but slightly more stripped down with elements of stoner, doom, death, black metal and gothic rock washing through.

Red Tape Riot produce music with a cutting contrast between heartfelt melodies and strong party grooves. Influenced by the Post-Punk sounds of the 80’s, modern Indie Rock, Brit Pop, Drum n’ Bass and Electro dance scenes, the result is a highly danceable and catchy sound.

Red Tape Riot’s first two singles ‘Love Is a Feeling’ and ‘Been Here Before’ made an impact on radio stations across the country, as have the new tracks ‘Wide Awake’ and ‘Dreams’ . Their debut album ‘Almost Yesterday’ was released in 2014, and the band have played major events and festivals since then, having also just completed a successful East Coast tour.

A year later the second album ‘Satisfy’ was launched to critical acclaim on the 14th November 2015.

The band tour the UK and Europe in July & August 2017.
